The adidas Finale 11 Official Match Ball is the official match ball of the 2011/2012 UEFA Champions League soccer competitions leading up to the final in Germany. A departure from the design prerogatives adidas had in mind for the Jabulani and SpeedCell that played in the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa and are at play currently in various global domestic soccer leagues, including MLS, the Finale 11 has a softer PU casing, thermal bonded, with more panels and more peripheral weight-share than the World Cup soccer ball.
Star-shaped, prismatic, polychromatic primary panels alternating with their hexagonal inverses effect a pattern specific to the UEFA ball that achieves as nearly-perfect a sphericity as any ball on the planet. The Finale 11's PU casing uses a new PSC texture for increased touch and grip on the player’s boot, improved aerodynamics—swerve, spin, and a less variable flight,—and better consistency on wet surfaces.
