The Mercurial line is engineered for speed: this is the Mercurial Vapor VI. Its Teijin synthetic upper and carbon/glass fiber outsole make this sixth Vapor one of the lightest boots ever to hit the market.
Hollowed-out dual-density studs. Vapor Traction is six clusters of studs and a forefoot grip zone. The studs are bladed, as has become traditional for “speed” boots, but each forefoot cluster includes a lateral extension that grips for forward explosion, when the wearer pushes off the toe. The outsole is made of Tepex® thermoplastic composite carbon and glass, engineered for strength and added energy return, and lighter than TPU. Shank support is enhanced by ridges through the mid-foot.
The laces are covered with a stitched-on gusset, making the symmetrical lacing a clean striking system. A new coating has been added to the Vapor VI’s instep and striking half of the toe, and the SWOOSH™ is a textured striking surface with bite. The difference of textures is noticeable to the touch during shots, traps, and passes.
The internal heel counter is low and light weight, and the padding in the heel cup has been enhanced for comfort and a more secure fit. The molded insole features perforated EVA cushioning on the underside. The Vapor is slip-lasted in the rear half, with synthetic fiberboard in the forefoot. The upper is formed from a minimum number of separate pieces with fewer stitches than before. Teijin synthetic breaks in more comfortably than most synthetics, and is supple though extremely light.
